Warning Description: Lake Effect Snow Warning
Warning Date: 3:39 PM CST on February 8, 2010
WarningSum:...Lake Effect Snow Warning In Effect Until Midnight Cst Tuesday
Night...
Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a lake effect
snow warning for Ashland County...which is in effect until
midnight CST Tuesday night.
* Total snowfall will range from 5 to 10 inches across northern
Ashland County...with the heaviest of the snow falling late
tonight into Tuesday morning. Roads such as highways 2 and 13
will become snow covered and hazardous. Whiteout conditions with
blowing snow...especially near Lake Superior...can be expected.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A lake effect snow warning means significant amounts of lake-
effect snow accumulation are expected that will make travel
hazardous. It is common for lake effect snow accumulations and
snowfall rates to vary greatly over very short distances. If you
must travel...keep a winter survival kit in your vehicle...
including a flashlight...food...and water.
